Out of Venue Policy - Undergraduate Program

ACTIVE

Effective Start Date: 07/01/2009 End Date:Current

Starting July 2009, there will be campus registration restrictions for all students from the Bahamas site. A student will be not be permitted to register for a course other than a ground offering in the Bahamas. Students desiring to take classes outside of the Bahamas ground format, for example, online, will be charged the prevailing online tuition rate as per the Huizenga School Catalog. Such registrations will be done with the assistance of your advisor.

Effective Start Date: 04/28/2008 End Date:Current

Undergraduate SEC students should only be receiving the SEC rate for courses taught at the SEC. UG SEC students are currently blocked from registering for online courses; therefore, students will need to contact you to register for online courses. You should then let them know about the difference in tuition. If they decide to take a online course, you should let Shannon know, so that she can adjust the rate code.

Here is the clarification: If the student works at one of our corporate sites or a corporate partner, they will still get the corporate rate for the online course. Only SEC students are affected by the online tuition. An easy way to tell if they are a SEC student or a corporate partner is to check the rate code.

Effective Start Date: 11/27/2007 End Date:

Off campus students now have a campus restriction requiring them to seek an override from their advisor if they wish to register for an online course. If the student is registering for an online course out of convenience, then they will pay the online rate. In these cases, please let the student know, verbally and in writing (via email), the amount they will be paying for these courses. In addition, please let them know that the adjustment to their account will not be immediate; however, they are still responsible to pay the appropriate rate. You will need to email Shannon May to have the adjustment completed.

If the student wants to take an online class because of something that we have caused (canceled classes, etc.) they can receive the site rate for that course. If you are unsure if a student should receive the online or the site rate, please feel free to contact Sherla, Sue, Laurie or myself for guidance.

In all of these cases, please put notes in SPACMNT.

JAMAICA

Through December 31, 2008, all Jamaica students will pay their current Jamaica ground rate regardless of the venue that they take their courses. Therefore; if a Jamaica student finds it necessary to take an online course to complete their degree, they may still receive the Jamaica rate.

As of Jan 1, 2009, Jamaica students will pay the rate of the venue where they are taking their courses. Therefore, if a Jamaica student takes an online course as of January 1, 2009, they will pay the online rate code.

LOCK STEP CLUSTERS

Including Corporate Clusters and Bahamas students. Lock step students must take all courses offered at their cluster location. If the student would like to take an additional online course, they must request approval from the academic advisor. If the course is being taught ground, as part of the lock step program, the student should take the course ground. The advisor will consider all issues before making a final decision. If the student is given permission to complete an online course, they will receive the lock step rate.

If, without the advisor permission, the student decides to take a ground class online, then the student will have to pay the online rate for that course. The advisor is responsible to email Shannon May and ask for a rate code to be created for that specific semester.

MAIN CAMPUS/STUDENT EDUCATIONAL CENTERS

All main campus students and student educational center students will receive a rate code based on where the majority of their courses are taken per semester. If 50% of the students are taken at their admitted location, they can receive the location rate code. If the student takes 50% of their courses out of venue, they should receive the higher rate code.

For example: If a Tampa student takes 1 course at the Tampa SEC and 3 courses online, the student should receive an online (UONLN) rate code for all courses taken that term. If a Tampa student takes 2 courses at the Tampa SEC and 2 courses online, the student should receive a Tampa (UTAMP) rate code.

Bahamas students (grad and undergrad) should only take courses at the site. If a student asks to take an online course, you will need to request permission from Mary Toledo. Generally, it will only be approved if the course is not being taught at the site, and it is needed to graduate.

  • If Mary approves the online course, they can take it at the Nassau rate. You will need to email Shannon May to have a rate code created
