Quarter Hours and Semester Hour Equivalency Clarification

This policy builds on the quarter credits needed for students to bring in course work which can be found by clicking Quarterly Hour Equivalent

When reviewing credits from an institution you will see that some schools operate under a quarter hour system and others under a semester hour system. As you evaluate a student’s transcript or the NACES organization evaluation (i.e. Silny, WES, etc.) of a transcript the following distinction is important for your review.

• Students earning credit from an institution awarding quarter hours must earn 2.67 quarter hours in order to bring in the equivalency of 3 semester hours of course work to the Huizenga School of Business.

• Students earning credit from an institution awarding semester hours must earn 3 semester hours in order to bring in 3 semester hours of course work to Huizenga School of Business.

Students who do not have enough credits in a course may combine classes to satisfy the credit requirements
