Reviewing Priority Levels for Certificate Programs: Graduate

Student declares his or her certificate prior to their last term beginning

The certificate needs to be updated in Banner prior to the last term beginning. When the student goes to confer the degree you will need to update the certificate to the priority 1 level for the future term. As there are students currently pursuing certificates with the CERT 4 program code this is important to ensure that the student does not accidentally receive financial aid for courses that are part of the CERT 4 program.

Please remember that students are not permitted to declare certificates that are no longer active as of the 201120 term (i.e. marketing or any of the international certs.) Students currently pursuing a CERT4 in one of these cancelled certificates mentioned will be permitted to complete the program under the CERT4 designation only non-financial aid eligible. Student declares his or her certificate in their last term which has already started

Changes cannot be made once the term has started to declare a certificate. The student must apply for the certificate program for the subsequent term. Please note if the student applies for the certificate prior to the degree being conferred admissions will automatically give the certificate a priority 2. Once you determine that the student is done with the degree requirements please go into Banner to update the certificate to show as a priority 1 to avoid any financial aid discrepancies, registration issues etc.
