Glossary of Terms

HSBE = Huizenga School of Business & Entrepreneurship

Capstone - A 4 credit, one-week seminar course (often taken at the end of a program). Offered on main campus only.

Catalog - A document complete with policies and curriculum used as a guide throughout your studies. Located on the HSBE* website under Current Students.

Chat Session - A specific date and time that online students must be present on WebCT for lecture sessions with the professor. Times and dates are found on the HS Portal.

CLEP/DANTES Exams - Optional subject-specific proficiency examinations offered through NSU's Testing Office used to test out of prerequisite courses.

Course Reference Number (CRN) - A 5-digit unique set of numbers that identifies each course found on the schedule of classes and is used in the registration process.

HS Portal - Online information system giving students access to registration information, forms and other resources specific to the HSBE*.

MDF - Masters Drop Form is an electronic form to request a drop/withdraw from a course. Located on the HS Portal.

One Stop Shop (OSS) - Office located on main campus that encompasses Registrar, Bursar, Financial Aid & Scholarship services.

PES - Pre-Enrollment Seminar is a group of individual modules that feature registration instructions located on the HSBE* website under Current Students.

Program Office - Office located in the HSBE* that specializes in developing program curriculum and schedule of classes.

Schedule of Classes - List of offered courses organized by academic level, location, term and subject. Located on the HSBE* website under Current Students.

SharkLink - System that allows students to access WebCT, WebMail and Webstar.

STF - Student Transaction Form is used to request to add or drop a course. Located on the HS Portal.

Term - A 10-week period of time in which courses begin and end. There are four terms per year.

WebCT - System that students use to access online classes. Located at http://www.nova.edu/webct/index.html.

WebMail - System that students use to access email accounts. Located at https://mail.acast.nova.edu/horde/imp/login.php.

Webstar - System that students use to register, view grades, transcripts, financial aid information and update personal information. Located at http://webstar.nova.edu/.

Yearly Program Planners - Planning tool indicating order classes are to be taken and when they are offered during a year. Located on the HS Portal.
