Books for Nassau Site

Each year the leadership of the University and the Huizenga School evaluate tuition rates to ensure adequate coverage of costs in order to provide a sound academic experience. For over seventeen years, we have been providing a gift of books to our Bahamian students. After careful review it is not fiscally prudent or feasible to continue to do this. As assistance to our valued students, there will be no tuition increase for the 2009 academic year. Students are encouraged to utilize sources such as Barnesandnoble.com, Amazon.com, Halfbook.com, cheapbooks.com, and a variety of other sources to acquire prescribed learning materials. Also it is recommended that networking be done with other students as they may be willing to sell their books after they have completed their courses.

In addition, starting in July 2009, there will be campus registration restrictions for all students from the Bahamas site. A student will be not be permitted to register for a course other than a ground offering in the Bahamas. Students desiring to take classes outside of the Bahamas ground format, for example, online, will be charged the prevailing online tuition rate as per the Huizenga School Catalog. Such registrations will be done with the assistance of your advisor.

Bahamas students (grad and undergrad) should only take courses at the site. If a student asks to take an online course, you will need to request permission from Mary Toledo. Generally, it will only be approved if the course is not being taught at the site, and it is needed to graduate.

  • If Mary approves the online course, they can take it at the Nassau rate. You will need to email Shannon May to have a rate code created.
  • If Mary approves the course, we will also provide the book to the student – no charge. She will email Mary Mezhoudi to have the book shipped.

At this time, all students taking course at the Nassau SEC receive books for free. They are handed out at the site a week before classes start. (this includes ISM 5014)

Bahamas Graduate students taking prereqs (5001 – etc.) are responsible to purchase their own books.
