Curriculum Updates: Master's and Doctoral

ACTIVE

Effective Start Date: 07/15/2008 End Date: Current

Changing and/or adding Curricula, Majors, Concentrations

  • Contact Admissions to update student accounts prior to student registering for courses to have record updated
  • Once a student has registered an advisor will have to make all changes to the student record
  • If prior to the start of a term – change is effective for the upcoming term
  • If term has started – change is effective for the following term not the current term
  • A complete curriculum change is required for any student changing majors and concentrations
  • If a SHADEGR record exists for old major, email deqc to have them change SHADEGR to new curriculum after you have made the changes.

Student is changing program, major and/or concentration or adding concentration

SFAREGS

Step 1: Type term the change is to be effective for

Step 2: Next Block

Step 3: Click Curricula Tab

Step 4: Click Replace to Replace current curriculum

Step5: Change Catalog term so it matches SFAREGS term

Step 6: Type or Select Program

  • Level, College, and Degree will automatically populate

Step 7: Type or Select Campus

Step 8: Type or Select Admission Type (this is already populated)

Step 9: Click on Field of Study tab

Step 10: Type or Select Field of Study

Step 11: Type or Select Department

If student is adding a concentration do not save and continue onto the next step

Step 12: Arrow down to the next field area and enter in Concentration

Step 13: Type in the Field of Study code for the concentration

Step 14: Type in the Department code (refert to the department code attached to the major code above)

Step 12/15: Save

Student is completing a certificate at the same time as completing a Masters degree

SFAREGS

Step 1: Type term the change is to be effective for

Step 2: Next Block

Step 3: Click Curricula Tab

Step 4: Click Duplicate

Step 5: Change Catalog Term so it matches SFAREGS term

Step 6: Change Priority to next number in sequence (most likely it will be 2)

Step 7: Type or select Program (CERT4 or CERT30)

  • Level, College, and Degree will automatically populate

Step 8: Enter Campus Code

Step 9: Click Field of Study Tab

Step 10: Change Catalog term so it matches SFAREGS term

Step 11: Change Field of Study Code

  • If a concentration code exists, Do not inactivate it but Record Remove it
  • Type or Select Department

Step 12: Save

Student decides to take UG prerequisites at the same time as Masters Courses

Student will pay FULL UG tuition rate, discounts do not apply. Student must adhere to UG admission and registration deadlines.

SFAREGS

Step 1: Type term the change is to be effective for

Step 2: Next Block

Step 3: Click Curricula Tab

Step 4: Click Duplicate

Step 5: Change Catalog Term so it matches SFAREGS term

Step 6: Change Priority to next number in sequence (most likely it will be 2)

Step 7: Type or select Program (NON32)

  • Level, College, and Degree will automatically populate

Step 8: Enter Campus Code

Step 9: Click Field of Study Tab

Step 10: Change Field of Study to U499

  • If a concentration code exists, Do not inactivate it but Record Remove it

Step 11: Change Catalog term so it matches SFAREGS term

Step 12:Save

Student decides to defer Masters and take only UG prerequisites

Inform Graduate Admissions Office to make changes to defer student to future term. Admissions will update student account.

Student’s catalog term only is changing

SFAREGS

Step 1: Type term the change is to be effective for

Step 2: Next Block

Step 3: Click Curricula Tab

Step 4: Click Update to Update current curriculum

Step 5: Change Catalog Term (Do Not Save)

Step 6: Click Field of Study Tab

Step 7: Change Catalog Term to match term in step 6

Step 8: Save

Inactivating a curriculum (you can only inactivate those that are current (current indicator is checked) and active)

SFAREGS

Step 1: Type term the change is for

Step 2: Next Block

Step 3: Click Curricula Tab

Step 4: Arrow over to curriculum to be inactivated

Step 5: Click Update

Step 6: Change Activity to Inactive

Step 7: Save
