Mater's Pre-Enrollment Seminars

ACTIVE

Effective Start Date: 08/04/2008 End Date: Current

Pre-enrollment Seminars will no longer mandate that new master’s students attend a PES. We are creating alternative methods for them to access the information they need.

Specifically:

  • Effective Aug. 4th PES sessions will no longer be mandatory.
  • Concurrent main campus and online PESs will be scheduled each week (6:00-8:00pm). Day will be rotated , Example (Monday Aug. 4th is the first one, then Tues Aug. 12, then Wed. Aug. 20 so on and so forth. (Fridays excluded).
  • We will no longer be putting new student holds on accounts.
  • We will be developing supplemental materials for students to access via the web, including PES modules, which students can view at their own pace.
  • We will mass email all active students informing them of the new materials and how to access them.
  • We will update admissions letters direct students to PES modules offered online.

Status:

  1. Effective immediately, the admissions letters will invite students to attend a PES if they wish to do so. Recruitment personnel: once a student is admitted, please refer them to the catalog, website, HSPortal, and PES modules. Please do not refer them directly to their advisor, for we will not be able to accommodate all new students at once. Students should be directed to use their resources and follow up with an advisor for planning and problem solving, if needed.
    1. PESs will be scheduled, as outlined above, for students who choose to attend. Please provide feedback if more sessions are needed.
      1. We intend to develop robust online resources, but will start with the PES modules.
        1. PES modules will be developed and implemented within the next two weeks. We will provide information about location under separate cover. PES modules are narrated, step by step demonstrations on the following topics:
  • General Information (Getting NSU ID #, Retrieve WebStar pin, Get NSU email, Get NSU ID card, Parking Permit, Campus Map, Advisor Information, Contact information, FAQ)
