Everyone can remember being encouraged by a parent or teacher to keep working on those math problems or list of state capitals. You were being encouraged not to give up. You were told to stick with it! You were learning tenacity which would serve you well in the future as a leader.
Tenacity keeps a leader moving in a direction that aligns with a strategic action and/or an execution protocol. It keeps a leader operating between the correct lines with the appropriate people and resources. It is all about moving forward without hesitation. Results can be attained when hiccups are avoided. Thus, it is important to stay the course!
It is important to remember that there is a difference between tenacity and being stubborn. Tenacity is rational and is action chosen based upon sound analysis, while stubbornness is irrational. There is not anything else to say about that.
ItTenacity expresses itself in action(s), idea(s) or perspective(s). It is never personal. It is driven by the application of good influencing skills. This means the use of both asking and telling strategies to exchange information on your position. Use known knowledge and experience to state and maintain your position. Just be comfortable with repetition without becoming irritated. Losing composure turns tenacity into hot air.
